Ok, as we said, we’re back with new ROM – ICS AOSP.
Don’t worry, we’ll provide you other ROMs as soon, as it possible. We just began 😉
It’s made from scratch – ROM and kernel is brand new!

In Date & Time the Time option has FC. I get the Settings menu, when i click on it.

What the major difference between AOSP and CM? I am excited to see your release and would love to try it. How much memory is left after install? CM9.1 RC4.1 from Wayland_ACE has 177MB. Is AOSP more lightweight? Does Voice Search work?

You have to whipe cache and dalvik, make a factory reset then you can flash new rom

Reboot in recovery menu then just look for option called master reset or similar. I’m posting from my ace so I can’t send you screenshots.

maclaw , when i flash this rom … i select the languaje ( spanish ) and reboot a lot i did the wipes and nothing ¿ what can i do ?
I’m having the exact same issue.
I’ve tried to change the language in the selector to English (US) and it keeps rebooting…

Finally got it!
I wiped everything again and installed the ROM, when the language selector appeared I didnt’ do anything. I started properly and in the settings I changed the language to Spanish.
It worked 🙂

i have resolved removing the sim
It happens the same for me. I cant pass from the first language selection screen. when i click Start, it freezes and then reboots.

Same problem here, I already tried dalvik, cache and factory reset before and after installation. Sometimes it says com.android.phone not responding or something like that when selecting language. Btw the boot animation is shown every ~20sec in language selection screen.
I think it has to do something with the region of the SIM card since everything works fine when doing the installation and initialisation without it (starting the phone then with the SIM card inserted makes it reboot again and again, although homescreen is shown).
In my case its germany, and on XDA I already read from another german user that he has the same problem.

How can I change the number of screens(desktop) ?
Its AOSP. Comes with the stock android launcher which is limited to five screens. Download a different launcher from the play store.

One of the best ROM already tested, fast, stable, no fc, great battery and sound amazing. Hopefully in the next version is corrected question Automatic Time. Can not log into twitter with this bug time.

Well rom seems to be running nice and smooth, really, there are just minor bugs, overall:
-Date zone
-Data counter (not counting any data transfer)
-Kernel with Init.d support (I don’t know if AOSP supports init.d)
-Random freezes, making the phone totally unusable – have to remove battery, and start again
-YouTube reboots, however, HQ playback was working awesome 🙂
I think that’s all, if we don’t mind those bugs, which you already stated 🙂

On CM9 they have a couple of scripts for this purpose.
You see, there is a very big lack of internal memory on SGA, so it’s a very important thing.

I am happy for this rom, but I will stay on cm7 until it gets stable. And I cannot have my Ace without some of great cm7 features. My backups of original samsung rom got corrupted and i know i will have to return this device so i need original rom. Thanks Tomáš zo Slovenska

When using Spirit FM and even after following your instructions the app is returning a message error saying “Error: No FM accessible”.
What could be behind this issue?

Hey maclaw! very nice work on the AOSP! i have a tiny bug for you, though… i don’t know if there is a place i should file an issue.. maybe github or something like that. anyways here it is: vanilla ICS AOSP(no apps installed except the standard ones). even though the mobile data is disabled from settings, the signal icon in the status bar appears as if 3g is working.

After a clean install (format sd, format phone memory, factory, cache and dalvik) the phone is stuck at the boot language selection. Cannot go forward and keep looping the boot animation.
It boot without the SIM insert though…
I’ve used you ROM for a few days now a I didn’t manage to find anything that bothers me except that youtube reboot thing. I’m using this ROM now and wishful for, at least, Bluetooth working because of car hands free system. Of course to have Video recording working would be also a nice to have.
Whenever the ROM boots up, it shows a pattern lockscreen that disappears after a moment, then it says encryption unsuccessful. When I click the `factory reset` button on that screen, it doesn`t do anything. I have tried factory reseting via CWM, though the same message appears. Perhaps its because I am on S5660M?

I downloaded the Galaxy Gio ROM not the one for the Ace. S5660M is the Canadian model of Galaxy Gio
Bugs for me:
-I have secured my phone with the gesture but if i lock my phone with the on/off button on my phone and then unlock the lockscreen doesnt appear. If i lock the phone with a lock screen widget on my homescreen the lockscreen appeared.
-I can not synchronize my google account with the browser.
I am om ace and i am using alpha 1.

this is an AOSP version……the true form of android, without any modification.
I suggest you try using some widget for functions you missed in this AOSP rom.

Thanks for the ROM buddies… I know you are just two members to develop the ROM’s but you both please make sure that you those known issues as soon as possible. If you can give the ROM as early as before Christmas, that would be a wonderful Christmas gift to all of us.

Hello Maclaw, reporting a bug here, the wifi password seem to have a quite limited, can you please increase the amount of characters that can be inserted? Because everytime when it lacks space, when I type a digit/alphabet it overwrite the previous one…
