ability to select filesystem for /system, /data and /cache partition during installation! (f2fs or ext4)

What is the normal filesystem? I’m not an advance user and I don’t know what i’m using.

  • Alex says:

    it’s time to ace 2!

  • Thomas says:

    Great!
I formatted \system in EXT4 because it is faster with READ ops
\data and \cache was already f2fs because its much much faster with WRITE ops

  • JustinoMora says:

    Aroma? What is the smell?

  • Luis Fernán says:

    there is always one!

  • My previous version was 4.4.2.

I installed this new version and have the next:

    1. /system is not migrated a f2fs

    shell@golden:/data $ mount
    /dev/block/mmcblk0p22 /system ext4 ro,seclabel,relatime,user_xattr,acl,barrier=1,data=ordered 0 0
    /dev/block/mmcblk0p23 /cache ext4
    /dev/block/mmcblk0p25 /data ext4

    2. Following “Backup /data: ext4 -> f2fs” tutorial i cant do:
    shell@golden:/extSdCard $ tar -cvf data.tar /data/*
    tar -cvf data.tar /data/*
tar: /data/*: No such file or directory
tar: error exit delayed from previous errors

    Looks like a permission issue:
    1|shell@golden:/extSdCard $ ls /data
    ls /data
    opendir failed, Permission denied

    Tks for your fantastic job.

  • Diogo says:

Hey! I have already installed version 20140814 on my I8190L, but I want to update since there have been some trouble with (i) battery life, (ii) mobile and data network, and wifi signal; (iii) video streaming apps; and last but not least, (iv) phone suspiciously asked me to confirm my google account password even though I didn’t previously change it (at last I gave up and distrustfully confirmed it).

Frustrations apart, how do I simply update my OS to this latest version? What’s the difference between “ODIN” and “recovery” versions of the rom?

    • mkxmx says:

Odin version is for the first time you install this rom, because includes TWRP (also works to recover a bricked device).

Use recovery version if you already have TWRP installed.

    • yoni.verhulst says:

recovery is the easiest. you just flash the zip file in twrp recovery
odin is with a program on your pc but it’s a bit harder, just do recovery method

  • mkxmx says:

This is the last update ill test, release 20140814 really got me tired with the 1ghz bug and random reboots. If problems are still present I’ll go back to CM10.2

  • Angel Belmont says:

  • bill says:

Can you work in wifi direct? It doesn’t work.

  • Raúl Muñoz Plancencia says:

It’s still doesn’t working my bluetooth devices (free hand). But it’s a great work, just that detail for me.

    Thank you!

  • T3seR says:

Aroma is good, but need support to GAPPs, selectable in the Aroma, and wipe cache and dalvik too…

  • John says:

Aroma Installer (WIP)… para qué sirve?

  • ejald says:

Hi I’m new here – followed the tutorial and did a clean install of 20140817 cyanogenmod without problems – overall very impressed, thanks for all the hard work!

Hope I can dump a bunch of questions here though.

    1) Some hints in other comment threads of clock problems. Yesterday morning my alarm didn’t go off. What should I know?

    2) GSM issues – phone saying ’emergency calls only’ while I’m at home, signal here is excellent and never had any problem with other phones. I go to network selection and choose my network, it says ‘registered on network’, but trying to make a call I still get ‘network not available’.
Fixable after some intervention (not sure what exactly works – after variously rebooting, choosing 2G/3G, choosing network manually, choosing automatic network selection it worked again at some stage).

    3) How do I update my release? Fresh install tutorial is great, short note for updates would be nice for newbies.

    thanks!

btw as long as I get critical issues ironed out you can expect a donation from me

  • andres Jk says:

    thanks !!

  • Ben says:

When will published some Galaxy S Advance ROM? The next ROm will be the Android L-update?

  • Ilicib says:

Great job! I am installing almost all new updates and I know sometimes there are problems but new features too. The only think that I am missing is the battery life that was a lot better some months ago.

  • Treblada says:

“ZIP signature verification failed”, though the MD5 hash seems to be correct.
Is there are problem with the build process?

    • yoni.verhulst says:

whyyyy are you using odin???? it’s sooo much easier to do it in recovery, and you can enjoy the new aroma installer

    • jemdem says:

Since it seems this “zip file verification” process seems to be problematic for a lot of users, could novafusion release the md5sums of these file for us to be able to verify them manually before flashing with signature verification disabled?

Odin has nothing to do with it, I use TWRP and I’ve got the same issue…

  • susss says:

    WIFI Direct PLZ

  • gabi says:

“ZIP signature verification failed” üzenettel leáll a telepítő 🙁

  • d-k says:

I’ve done the dirty flash (as always) and everything works fine for the first hours.
    Gapps must be flashed again.
Installer is not very useful but looks nice.
(I’ve reformatted system back to ext4 because I guess that f2fs is the cause of a bit bigger battery drain).

    Thanx NF!

  • Egg says:

    BIG ISSUE !!!

I did a dirty flash as d-k said above…and discovered that i had to reinstall the GApps.
I rebooted in recovery from power menu in cm (NOT with power + home + volume up while the phone turned off)….I saw the GT-I8190-thingy bootlogo and after that it just went Black screen….no custom recovery…no normal start-up in CM…no nothing

I barely got into download mode to flash the recovery again and re-installed the rom (CM – 20.08.2014).

Thought the issue was fixed…but then again, after an hour or so, when I rebooted in recovery by power menu in CM it went black AGAIN.

Now the phone is up and running, but the issue is still there (No way I am rebooting in recovery without a PC nearby)

By the way…I saw a new option in power menu “soft reboot” and it actually works for me :))…it’s the first soft reboot that doesn’t end up crashing and doing a full reboot

  • Luiz Renato Zanoni says:

    Bug: (Cyanogenmod CM11 20/08/2014)

    – When the phone is plugged in and power on the computer, disconnect command does not work, it restarts the phone.
    – When the phone is plugged in to power the lights receive notification of buttons and lights do not dim.

This consuming a lot of battery, probably because of SELinux. Deactivated using the “SELinux Mode Changer” application, and the battery life earned more.

Thank you for the work of all developers.

    Muchas gracias.
