RELEASE for S3 Mini
CyanogenMod 12.0

New beta release (201412020) of CM12.0 for S3 Mini is available!

For flashing Lollipop, we recommend you to install our TWRP recovery (available on Download page)!

If you want to say thanks by donating us using PayPal, feel free 😉

Do full backup before installation and wipe data/cache (factory reset) after installation. Remember – this release is just a beta and it’s not supposed to being used as main OS!

You need to perform a wipe if you’re migrating from software different than CM12.0!

You can get it on our DOWNLOAD page.

Changelog:

  • updated CM12.0 sources
  • fully resolved mobile data, works even better than on CM11.0 and ealier ROMs (thanks Android-Andi for inspiration, you’re great mate!)
  • huge improvements in mobile calls – we can achieve normal phone calls, but sound is not available (work in progress)
  • improved multimedia support

Features

  • RIL (phone/SMS/3G)
  • audio (both speakers/headphones/microphone)
  • Wi-fi
  • Bluetooth 4.0 with LE support A2DP
  • GPS/Glonass/A-GPS
  • sensors
  • compass
  • video playing (only partially)
  • 2D/3D HW Acceleration
  • all native tethers (Wifi/BT/USB)
  • Google Play
  • CPU sleep mode
  • MTP
  • ADB
  • no tearing
  • tripple buffering
  • external storage
  • SELinux
  • offline charging

Issues

  • RIL might be really buggy, we had to fight to make it working and it’s still under development, but 3G and messages are completely bugfree
  • GPS might be buggy
  • this release doesn’t support f2fs yet, only ext4 filesystem – remember to wipe data/cache partitions as ext4 before flashing this ROM!
  • camera might work only in 3rd party apps
  • missing part of OMXes implementation (so there’s no fully HW video acceleration)

I’d be glad, if you shared links to our download page, instead of direct links to download.
Also would be great, if you wouldn’t create the mirrors 😉
Thanks.

If you want to say thanks by donating us using PayPal, feel free 😉

If somehow you’ll find a bug, use our bugtracker if you want to report it.

Does this fine baby work on the SM-G730A variety of the S3 mini?

  • Elmario says:

Seems like novafusion did some hard work here again. Akthough I’ll keep using the established Carbon 4.4.4 for next time I still welcome the effort you are making here, for having an even better ROM in future and keeping our vendorly ditched mini alive!

    Thank you novafusion

        • roy says:

Had a bootloop too.. Go back into recovering, wipe, advanced and convert cache, dalvik and system tot ext4 ( one of them doesn’t, will give an error message. Then try to flash again. First flash ROM , reboot and the flash g-apps. That worked for me. ROM was a but sluggy, and in call audio didn’t work. Reverted back to cm 11. Cm12 looks nice BTW, keep up the good work, looking forward to the progress.

  • Kubo says:

How to fix menu button opening the recent apps instead of the menu button:

      1. Download Root Browser. Also download BusyBox and having installed it, open the app and tap the install button to run the busybox script.
      2. Inside Root Browser go to: System/usr/keylayout
      3. Open sec_touchkey.kl as text file.
      4. Replace The first line to: key 139 MENU
      5. Save and reboot.

How to completely remove the red border:

2 Inside Root Browser go to: System
      3. Open build.prop
      4. At the end of the file add:

      persist.sys.strictmode.visual=0
      persist.sys.strictmode.disable=1

      5. Search for: ro.build.type=eng
      6. Replace with: ro.build.type=user
      7. Save and reboot.

Done the above steps enjoy your phone with no red border + menu button properly working.

      Hope it helps!

      You’re welcome

    • mamiho says:

      One post higher. Should work.

  • krayzieHank says:

First of all thank you for your hard work! Mobile Internet does work now what is great!
I have noticed the following issues: still red frame, menu button shows last used programs instead of the menu, camera not working (even 3rd Party support does not work for me), no mic or speaker support so no phoning, sometimes the phone is a little bit slow or unresponsive for a moment

Still a great work and I’m sure you’ll fix almost everything with the first stable release. It’s still beta and for the second or third 5.0 rom released it’s ok

Może zrobią, może nie. To urządzenie jest na granicy wymagań. Nie oczekuj za wiele.
Maybe… This device have the absolute minimum needs for lolipop. Don’t rise your hope though…

  • not wait to get out a stable version .
he could have removed the red band since last upload someone taught to solve just adding a line in builid .
a rather stable version comes out to the end of this year ?
and please correct calls when you do this I will use as the main OS and congratulations on more work please release more updates with more fixes

    • ItsPeet:Carbon says:

I’d say leave the red band in so users see it’s just a Beta test release.

To the end of the year is impossibly soon to get everything fixed; even when they tape their eyelids onto their foreheads and work 25h a day 🙂

      3. If still no go, then I don’t know whats going on…

    • Terminus says:

I have face taht problem, you must restart the installation…..

    • roy says:

Had a similar issue. You have tot be sure that you have your directories in the ext4 format. Go back into recovery. Select wipe. Select advanced. Choose for change format. Change dalvik, cache and system to ext4. One will return an error, cache or dalvik. No worries about that. Then try to flash cm12 again. Boot it. This worked for me. May the ROM be with you…

  • Max says:

Hey M&M! This ROM is great, but there are a few things:
Of course it’s a beta and there are so many bugs. But camera and calls have to work for me. (I will download this ROM, when it’s getting stable. And the performance isn’t that great. So, good work!
