Thank you for great work, Nova!
I have a question, please answer if someone knows:

In specifications I see “Bluetooth 4.0 with LE support A2DP”.

I want to buy Xiaomi Mi Band device, that requires BT 4.0 LE. Is it compatible with our BT 4.0? Should the device be connected?

    Thanks in advance!

    • lalalablubblub says:

If both devices support BT4.0 LE it should work in theory. Of course there’s no guarantee, because there still might be bugs or specific incompatibilities.
This release (Carbon LP) still is in an very early state of development, so you shouldn’t expect to use it for your everdays’ needs anyway.

      • ryan says:

actually carbonLP is quite stable for everyday use

i have no problems accept for a slower opening and closing animation but i think this is problem with carbonRoms sources

    • I use a S3 Mini with Novas Cynagonmod 12.1 with a fitbit, which uses BT 4.0 LE, without problems.

  • Karthik says:

Can I install this rom for GT-I8190N ?

    • ton says:

Yes . At least mine is working well.

      • ryan says:

no problems with wifi here either

has anyone noticed that animations are a tiny bit slower in carbon than with cyanogenmod

        • Cordracone says:

wifi works perfet in this one, camera still greenish, calls ok, batery… not perfect but fine for a complete day, still looking for more bugs, im a normal user btw.

  • Alberto says:

Thanks Nova for this release. I believe that Carbon ROM is the most suitable OS for the S3 Mini I8190L. Works very well for this kind of processor and I encourage you to keep the good work on this ROM. I am going to test it today. Best regards.

  • Andre Jacques says:

Everything is working fine for me, wifi, sim recongnized everything, instagram not crashing on videos which is a plus!

  • Bjorn says:

Will you guys soon release a lollipop Pac-Rom?

  • Thanks! issues with WIFI and reboots are fixed now

  • Lukas Ondris says:

How’s battery life in this release? :O

    • Cordracone says:

      is actualy prety good

    • Johnie says:

Battery performance ist good. 1-2 days battery life, same like on KitKat.
I think we need more time to get an average value.

      • Robbe says:

1-2 days??? How. If you turn on Wifi the battery runs and in 3G is almost the same.
        Pretty stable Rom.
Wifi toggle switch has a kind of weird reaction.
With interactive CPU governor, the current CPU frequency stays long time in the range of 1000 MHz, with ZZmoves governor improves.
Income phone call still a little bit low.
I have already installed for daily use.

      • Johnie says:

Battery life is preaty good. In normal usw up to 3 days for me.

I also use ZZmoves goveneur and switch into power mode at nighttime.

        • Robbe says:

For me when I am lucky the battery last just 8 hours with wifi used just to download some mail attachment or to check if there are any updates in play store. The battery is pretty new so I really wonder how you reach that Johnie, because just the searching of 3G and 2G cells waste battery charge. Good for you or where you are located you have a pretty stable carrier’s signal.
I am happy for you, great.

          • Johnie says:

Yes i habe nearly all the time stabile 3G and usw also WiFi.
Only at nicht i switch into power saving mode via quick settings.

I think the battery lifetime is i little bit Vetter AS on carbon KitKat.

  • Pieter W says:

It would be better to fix the big bugs (like video sharing in snapchat, messenger, …) in previous versions before working on a new version. I’d like to use Carbon or AOSPA KitKat as my stable ROM but I hate it for the video sharing crash. They are such ‘strong’ Roms and deserve as much attention as Cyanogenmod does but those bugs are so annoying.

  • Cristian García says:

The android 5.0 most stable for samsung galaxy s3 mini.
Almost everything works except the splash screen when you select a wireless network and give Next, waits indefinitely (I waited 15 minutes and the warning is 2 minutes).
Sorry for any expressionless malformed, I speak Spanish, no English.

  • Ilman Shah says:

    Youtube and instagram video working??

  • Rob Lee says:

After installing this ROM on my i8190n, I no longer can register on my network. I tried to go back to my original ROM and but I still cannot register on my network (AT&T).

  • kekZ says:

    Apn working? Thanks Maclaw

  • Uğur says:

it doesnt see the sd card

  • alberto says:

Hi, I have tried this rom and it works perfectly, I just see a couple of problems in your very well done job.
First: in order to change 2G / 3G (there is no tile or kind of button with this function, it was in KK 4.4.4) you have to do it manually and you have to push 2G or 3G twice to get the chosen one active.
Second: when you change 2G to 3G or viceversa, you have to engage the mobile data ON because it shuts down.
I do not have more to say, I hope my comments will help you to improve your work.
Regards and thank you so much.

    • Jose Cardama says:

How is the battery usage and performance overall?

      • alberto says:

I think is Ok, but maybe I can answer your question when I use it more days, now it is just one usage day so you have to wait for some days, but anyway I have been touching the phone all day long and I think the battery performance is so good

  • heshan says:

How can I download Google apps. Link is broken in download page.

  • nickysahani says:

There is issue with call volume. The only fix is to lower and increase the Volume….

    • wuxxin says:

i have the same issue, call volume is low, but if you lower it from full and increase it again it becomes a little louder

  • Zibos says:

  • sonny says:

Is it worth changing from Cyanogenmod to Carbon? Is it better and more stable? Do the games work well?

  • Atinisikenkovboy says:

What is the difference between cm12.1 ?

  • Luigi says:

Very nice rom! I had one autoreboot after first boot, can’t remove the default 2 widgets from lockscreen and they are opening in contra direction (to open a camera widget on the right side you have to pull from center to the left). Otherwise a system seems very stable, battery life is also good. Great work, thanks!

  • Mikelly says:

Outstanding job guys!! I’ve been waiting for CM12/12.1 to work but look like the Carbon did it for me. No problem with my phone. Everything works without any issues. I’ve been sitting on CM11 (11Mar15) ROM without any errors for a longtime. Read several peoples comments with little to no issues so I pull the trigger and download the ROM. I can watch Youtube, my watsapps works fine, No drop calls or delay calls, music works, stock google camera works (I use best camera personally), Offline battery charger is display during charging and I don’t get random reboot or delay booting or loop booting into TWRP over and over. The only small issues that I have but not concern is my SIM doesn’t read contacts information other than that everything is working fine.

  • Uğur says:

İncoming calls are dropping at my device anyone else has that bug??

  • Raj mohan K says:

After installing it on my samsung s3 mini i8190, it is very slow now. Each and every click taking too much time.

  • Zibos says:

Hello. excellent work. I would like to make two queries. How to activate otg? How to activate “active display”? Thank you very much.

      Suerte

  • Alberto says:

Excellent work, issues up to the moment is a repetitive message once in a while saying: Exchange services stopped working or something like that.
    Google “Keep” apk not working.
“No SIM card” but the SIM works well.
    Carbon ROM is excellent!!
    Best regards.
    My phone is a GT-I8190L

    • Alan Pereira says:

E Brasileiro? Se for você deve atribuir e habilitar uma senha para o SIM Card. Depois disso reiniciar que o Sim toolkit vai aparecer no menu.

This is how I found it out to work. Create a SIM-PIN in your settings, restart the phone with the PIN, and you will have the toolkit in your app browser.

    • Robbe says:

Alberto, hi, I had the same problem with the mail. Try this, it helped me.
Open email>upper left corner 3 lines>go down to settings>look for your email account>look for Download attachments>uncheck it and restart your cell.
If you manage like me several account, I suggest you to do this to all the accounts and than one by one you go back to check the download one email at the time to see wich account is giving you problems.
I had problems with a hotmail account of my company and with this I solved that inconvenient.
      Try it

  • Mikelly says:

Don’t know what happen to my comment yesterday but here goes again. Great work guys!!! The Carbon ROM works perfect except for a small issue. The SIM Card doesn’t read the contact info but no biggie. Everything else works perfect. No issues with YouTube, the offline charger animation work, stock google camera works perfect with not color issues (I use best camera personally), no issues with music players, video players but more importantly no issues with reboot either into TWRP loop or boot loop over and over.

I’ve been using CM11 dated 31 Mar 15 and that was the only ROM with no errors for me until this CarbonLP 5.1.1. That’s all I have. Thanks for the hard work and it look like I’m going to keep this ROM until I replace this phone. Thanks

    • Robbe says:

Mikelly you store your contacts in the sim? Is that what you mean?
Have you tried to import the contacts?
I usually keep mine in my gmail account so I don’t know if what I am suggesting you works, because the storage capacity of the sim is limited

      • Mikelly says:

        Robbe,

I do have my contacts on the sim and can’t access it. Like you my backup (current) contacts are store in my gmail account as well. I can access the contacts in the sim if I restore my original ROM. No worries I have access to my store contacts on my phone.

On a side note I’ve been reading issues with several people with this ROM but no issues for me. I’m guessing my installation methodology is key in the ROM working perfect for me and not others.

        • Robbe says:

          Mikelly,
What I usually do is to export all my contacts to the SD memory so I have a backup file if for any reason my phone is either robbed or the SIM card becomes useless.
I am very satisfy with this ROM, except for the incoming call volume that is still a little bit low and the battery drains rapidly, in my case, but overall performance is great.
The touch screen freezes less than with CM12.1.
At the beguining I had a problem with google play and I solve it by reflashing the gapps with AROMA..
Good to know that it is working for you too. Keep up

          • Robbe says:

I keep that backup file in my laptop, I almost forgot to mention to you.

          • Mikelly says:

            Robbe,

Everything you do with your contacts is pretty much the same for me. I orginally downloaded pa_gapps-modular-nano-5.1 longtime ago and it works without any issues.

I don’t have any of the issues you have with incoming call volume or and battery drains. I did replace the original battery 1500Mah to a 2000Mah before I downloaded this ROM. The new battery has been giving me a day and a half worth of energy.

Good to know that the ROM is working for you as well. I believe this will be my last update for a very longtime until I can get myself and unlocked version of Galaxy A5 or A7.

            Enjoy!!!

        • Andres says:

simply , you make a copy of your contacts on your email account, and you install each new ROM , you are entering the account and sync and go. It works for me

  • FlamiN says:

Every time someone called me, the call would drop after 1-2 seconds after I answer. If I made the call, it wouldn’t drop at all.

    • Johnie says:

Copy form the top of this article:

“You need to perform a wipe if you’re migrating from software different than Carbon 4.4.4!”

  • chonax says:

Phone app crash after i answer a call

  • after rebooting phone, “No Sim Card – No Service.”

  • Pippa says:

I’ve been using this rom for a week now (i moved from cm11), It’s a good rom but I still have one big problem: Sd Card. It doesn’t seem to read it or even know it’s there. what can i do about it?? please help…

  • Andy_Long_Beach_CA says:

    Hi,
    Quick question.
Anybody knows why ‘Performance’ under ‘Settings’ sometimes are not available?
In CM 4.4.4 mostly it was there. Installed CM 12.1 some ROM versions, couldn’t find it.
Then installed Carbon 5.1 this version over CM 12.1, wiped Dalvik / Cache, and suddenly it showed up.
But needed to fresh install Carbon 5.1 again because of an gapps issue, and now again it’s not under ‘Settings’ to find anymore.
    Anybody an idea?

    Thanks in advance

    Andreas
