RELEASE for S3 Mini
CyanogenMod 12.1
New stable release (20150723) of CM12.1 for S3 Mini is available!
Please, test it and report any bugs!
For flashing Lollipop, we recommend you to install our TWRP recovery (available on Download page)!
Do full backup before installation and wipe data/cache (factory reset) after installation if you don’t updating from older CM12.0 release.
You need to perform a wipe if you’re migrating from software different than CM12.0!

Issues
- video taken by stock camera app is green, but some apps like Camu taking correct videos without any issues

All,
I downloaded Omni ROM from this location since this site doesn’t update their download links here.
https://www.mediafire.com/folder/vfyl8uk44aa7t/omni_golden This ROM is lollipop 5.1.1 and everything works except the video so you’ll need the camu app to make it work. Everything else works fine to include all video chats, no ui problems, no drop calls no slowing of ROM at all and everything works smoothly.
Initial installation might give you problems. Clear all cache and reset and if the boot login last over 30 min initially shutdown power and reinstall and reboot. You’ll need to install SU (Super User) as you’ll lose root access. Once everything is done this thing works great. I like Carbon but this one is much better. I have been running Omni ROM on my ASUS table for 7months with no issues so I’m going to stick with them. Good luck if you decide to go this route.
Isn’t it weird the BEST ROM I’ve come across here since I’ve been using this website for over a year, is a ROM build in may 2014: PAC-rom KitKat. I’ve been using it for two weeks now and I’m very satisfied with it. I haven’t come across any bugs you find in multiple ROM’s, like the video crashing in Snapchat, Instagram, … .
A very stable ROM, with lots of customization. I really suggest you give it a try!

Not quite. I found Omin ROM that’s better. For some reason they don’t want me to add the link but if you do a google search typing “omni golden for s3 mini” the first url will take you to it. I’ve been using this ROM for my ASUS tablet and it has worked perfect. For the S3 mini there are only one problem with the video playback but that can be solve by using camu app. Other than that I have no issues with ui, video crashing, call hangup or slow performance. No more CM12 or Carbon for me.
Android 5.1 is still a developing rom for the S3 mini. Kitkat has been out for years now if i recall correctly, Lollipop just for months. While i think previous (5.1)roms had better performance than the last ones, Novafusion still has made a tremendous effort to bring the system to the 5.1 and for the most part the rom works wonders, in a couple of months the performance is going to skyrocket and surpass kitkat rom, im sure of it
You have a weird view of what is considered stable. I tried it and it has no SiM support, so not stable. Stable implies that everything should be operating as normal, which clearly it doesn’t.
No SIM support? Is that why I CAN send messages and make calls? The problem is obviously your SIM-card or it’s connection to the phone.
No, its not. On my stock ROM and even modified versions of my ROM (BenzROM and Dmod) I have full user access to my SIM. That includes the Toolkit, and read/write permission.. Not one, and I mean one version of the custom ROMs form this team have given me full access to my SIM. So obviously it is a ROM issue, not my hardware or the way I install the ROM.

Sending and receiving calls and messages aren’t the issue, as stated above.
Perhaps the full accessibility to SIM-cards wasn’t invented in may 2014, I don’t know. But for those who don’t do anything with their SIM card besides texting and calling (and whatsapp and stuff, …), it is a perfectly stable ROM. Every ROM has issues and buggs if you want a lot of customization.
Does it mean we have zRAM?
You can check it using free comand in terminal. Please check and let me konw swap is working. Currently I am using omni and I can’t verify it 🙂

I’m using OmniROM as well and use the Camu video app and I get 720p. The ROM is far better than anything to include Carbon.
probably the bug of camera has no solution because they don’t have drive lollipop for s3 mini

What about battery life ? I use rooted stock rom. I uninstall stock app. If you say this rom is better than stock rom ( battery life) u flash this. Sorry for my bad english. Thank nova team.

I am having a problem charging my S3 Mini from any other source than the original charger. After charging it to 100% from my mobile power bank it doesn’t go into sleep mode as indicated by Wakelock Detector. It only goes into deep sleep after a reboot. Anybody have an idea for a fix, hours of internet research didn’t yield any results.

Yeh.. this make the phone fastter, but, consume more battery to speed animations :3
I have noticed it, so back to default values 🙂 but it was worth to test it, the S3 mini was like a jet, but battery consumption is to high
the ROM works very well.
But i’m unable to connect to my home network wifi.

– Bad French layouts
– BLN Control doesn’t work, due to Novafusion kernel, apparently
– Still torch Long on-time.
– Still torch crashes when toggle several times… then the phone reboots
– No EAP-SIM, whereas it exists on Samsung ROM stock
– Sometimes when I turn on the screen, the touch doesn’t work.
– Battery drains so fast !
– very slower compared with previous releases
– bug with data/network icon (exclamation point disappears)
To Nova Team:
– could you update the link to download GAPPS, please ? It is broken… and I asked it several times
– could you update TWRP to 2.8.7.0 ?

If you’re going to stick with CM use the CM11 031515. It’s pretty much error free. The only problem I had was the SIM access. Other than that the ROM works great with no other errors and runs smoothly. CM12/12.1 are useless and for some reason they can solve the same issues. I’ve used CarbonLP it work much better than the CM12.1. The only problems are if someone calls you and you take it off your ear the phone hangs up. The video scrambles for which CAMU app can solve. No sim access but that’s not an issues so long you store your contacts to somewhere else.
Now I use OmniROM 5.1.1 with ONE error. Video scrambles and CAMU app can solve that. NO other issues. It runs so smooth like the ROM was created for it. I’m a very happy happy person and never will use anyother ROM ever again. Do a google search for “omni_golden for s3 mini” and you’ll find it. Nova hasn’t updated the link on their website. The one omni is still kitkat when an updated lollipop is out there. Good luck

Your welcome. I have listed detail instructions on how to install it. Make sure you’re on ext4s and not f2fs or else you’ll be in a constant boot loop. That was the issues Robbe had for which I discover and let him know. Good luck!!

Why Facebook and messenger takes so much time to install?
They’re probably really big apps, and ART needs to compile them during installation. From my experiences with Facebook on the I8190, it’s not optimized at all.

The CM12/12.1 doesn’t have the attention that CarbonLP or better yet OmniROM has. The OmniROM works with one issue and that’s the video for which Camu apps can solve. I can confirm the same bug with touchscreen not responding sometimes after turning it on… after pressing power button to turn it off and on again, it comes back alive
BLN doesn’t work for me either, sort of got used to it though.
Instagram, Vine , Twitter always crash and also when logging into snapchat, battery on wifi runs out incredibly quick however not on wifi it doesnt go down at all! p.s please update CarbonLP
Yes! Without using wifi I get 1% drain for 1 1/2 hours! Hope the next release will fix wifi battery drain, twitter, vine, instagram issues.

Huge battery problems less than 12 hours of life and sometimes the phone gets into a reboot loop and the battery drains completely,

No random reboots here nor crashes, sometimes only trebuchet disappears and I have to force close it.
I didn’t see random reboots since a very long time. The only problem I have now is with sim port which is for some reason randomly switching off.

Hi, I downloaded the Rom and installed. The cell went into a loop of restarts so I had a backup of the earlier Rom an reinstalled it.

1 BUG, but fairly important.
Every now and then the bottom menuon the screen, I don’t know its specific name but the one which commonly has, right to left, the camera, browser, menu icon, messages and dialer. The menu that sticks in the display even when changing page, I believe you got me. We,,, this menu suddendly disappears. The cell works but I cant access the menu or the specific apps. And obv I must reboot, I cannot use the mobile like this, and rebooting it works fine again.
Is there any woraround? Has anyone noticed this? I pointed my attention for some time before posting, now I’m sure it is a bug. It’s not my phone or the hd. Has something to do with last update I guess.

Not the best release. CarbonLP is better with minimal problems. OmiROM is much much better with two issues only. No sim contacts access and scrambled video for which camu app can solve. Do a google search for OmniROM for s3 mini you won’t be disappointed. It’s very very smooth.
Same problem in my cellphone
Try OmniROM 5.1.1. Nova hasn’t updated the download folders so do the google search. Only two issues. No sim contacts access and video noise for which camu apps works. Everything works like it was a stock ROM. Enjoy if you use it.
Mikelly hi, how is battery usage with that Rom?
The battery usage is great. If you install live wallpaper the battery will last about 8 hours and with static wallpaper the battery will last all day for about 12 hours.
Do you know how to access the home screen’s customization menu? You press the info button on the left of physical menu button. You just open the customization menu and it reloads the icons 🙂
