RELEASE for S3 Mini
CyanogenMod 12.1
New stable release (20151114) of CM12.1 for S3 Mini is available!
Please, test it and report any bugs!
For flashing Lollipop, we recommend you to install our TWRP recovery (available on Download page)!
Do full backup before installation and wipe data/cache (factory reset) after installation if you don’t updating from older CM12.0 release.
You need to perform a wipe if you’re migrating from software different than CM12.0!
You can get it on our DOWNLOAD page.

Issues
- video taken by stock camera app is green, but some apps like Camu taking correct videos without any issues
- less than 2% of users are reporting issues with mobile data – just add new APN manually with settings proper for your provider and apply it to make 3G working

it´s possible to find this update on “about phone —–> update system , like normal android updates (without format android) ? I have the release from 29th October from cm12.1.

Issues:
Screen Recording doesn’t work,
I can’t install Minecraft,
The Wifi – symbol is missing in the status bar when no WiFi connection is available.

Do my eyes deceive me or do I see a fix for proper SIM usage? If that’s the case, wow, Nova would be the first to have that function for custom ROMs outside of Jellybean. Good work! Lets just hope Vodafone is among the lot of fixes.

I’m not talking about being about to credit your SIM, send and receive texts and calls. I’m talking about read/ write functions and being able to access the toolkit without the use of a SIM pin.
Do someone use a Samsung Gear Fit? Does it work with the s3 mini and with CM12.1?

No,It isn’t possible. Maybe Novafusion adds this later on.

I’m still can’t change the processor governor’s. This is a latest release problem.
Install no Frills cpu to playstore then set processor you want and done enjoy you can uninstall it after setting the governor you want :))

it is a bug with cyanogen code itself
any device using the latest cyanogen code will have this bug…probably

So any stagefright issues or what? Also I haven’t found an article anywhere on the video recording issue and why it hasn’t been fix yet. What I have seen is that’s it’s a drivers/libs problem and am wondering why no one has gotten it to work yet with porting drivers from an earlier Android version.
the drivers can only be ported through guess work
as samsung locked us out of the driver code
same thing with NFC

They didn’t “lock us out” from the NFC drivers, they just didn’t actually give us enough to get the drivers to compile and actually work.
Regarding the camera, that’s due to changes in Lollipop from KitKat. The only way to get it working is if Samsung port the S3 mini drivers to Lollipop, which will never happen because our phone isn’t getting an official Lollipop upgrade.
It’s not NovaFusion’s fault the camera doesn’t work in CM12.1; none of the other S3 mini devs can get it working either.

They tried a while ago with CM11, but it was never successful.
Works great, but why can’t move apps to sd? Or what is problem with facebook that fb cannot be installed
In settings – Performance – Processor changing CPU governor wont work. Its been already for a long time like this.
Everything works smooth and stable.
Tested all the functions for a normal user.
BT pairing/play music, Flashlight, Music, Camera (photo), Clock, Alarm, Sound Recording.
Nothing hangs, no errors.
No battery draining.
The only thing i miss, is the video recording function.
Can’t find a good working app that works smooth or give green movies.
That’s the only thing that made me always wait to update to CM12.1.
But I have 2 Galaxy S3 mini’s, so for work phone, it isn’t a problem.

Clock app is crashing after changing alarm tone to a song. When I select the track, clock app immediately crashes and alarm tone will not change.
Offline charging shows only black screen after update from 7.10.2015. There is just loading wheel and then black screen. Until then there was battery charging indicator.
Chrome and Firefox are crashing when page is resource-hungry, sometimes just for no reason.
Random unlocks in my pocket (thank you Samsung for HW home button). MIUI has very useful function that deactivates touchscreen when proximity sensor detects object nearby.
After 29.10. update phone is subjectively more laggy than before (this is probably HW issue – this phone is so old). Opening whichever app takes more than 30 seconds, I have to keep touching display to keep it from locking. When the phone locks and I unlock it, locking screen is creating itself for another 10 seconds 🙁
Random (but probably delayed) touches. Sometimes when I take my phone out of my pocket, it will dial random people from my contact list. Sometimes I can’t cancel my call, because there is some stuck touch command in right portion of screen.
Majority of this is not your fault and I have to say, that this ROM is much better than stock. Thank you Novafusion, I love your work.

These are my main problems with Cyanogenmod 12.1:
1) Google Play keeps randomly crashing (even when it’s not opened)
2) The internal memory keeps getting full even though I only use less than 500 MB (it shows me I am using 4 GB while all my apps + files take together only 500 MB) [yes, I do use many cache cleaner apps]
3) The UI sometimes crashes and freezes
4) Apps run much smoother in Cyanogenmod 11 than in CM 12.1
5) Facebook doesn’t work again
6) Videos are laggy and buggy, they like to freeze etc.
That’s about it for me, I hope the 2), 4) and 5), maybe 6) will be fixed asap
I don´t have any of those problems. Phone runs smooth and (with a new one) battery, with voice calls and wifi on, battery last +22hrs and still 20% of charge.
About issue 2, I was getting the same thing, it turns out cached data was the culprit (at least in my case). It was taking up more than 1.5 gb. Go to Storage and click ‘cached data’ and just clear it if you see it using a huge amount of space.

With all of them except 6) you won’t get these fixed within CM 12.1 until someone else creates their own build tree from golden-guy’s OmniROM tree. Until then, use CM11 (or OmniROM if you really want Lollipop, though it’s not perfect).
Could you tell me how do I get omnirom lollipop?

Ever since i’ve moved to cm12 ,i cannot seem to move apps to SD card. When i attempt to,it just says “Not enough memory on SD card” whereas its an 8GB which is tons of space, is this a common problem or is it just mine? *Installing the latest update at the moment,really hope the Sim Card issue is fixed

Samsung never built in the ability to move apps to the SD card on the S3 mini. You can try 3rd party apps from the Play Store to link app’s files to the SD card though (I’m using Link2SD).
I can´t install Facebook!!
download Facebook Lite (that works also from Google Play)
OR
download Facebook from any other app like Apptoide / 1Mobile etc., or download .apk file of it and install it on your own

The link at the top of the page leads to Github, but there are no recent changes in the repositories. I think it would be interesting to follow development and as a newcomer it would increase my trust in the developers and the quality of the ROM.

Snapchat camera doesn’t work. It is an error of the green camera bug (sorry my bad English)
When I enable WiFi hotspot device becomes very very slow and it takes around 5 minutes to switch to hotspot mode. Switching off to normal also takes time. sometimes crashes. The same was in CM11. Can you please look at it? I have GT-I8190.

Hi, I’m blind user. I have been installed CM 12.1 on my Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini and GApps full. ROM works correctly, but when I enable Talkback screen reader the phone becomes very slow and unusable. I tried to use it on Note 3 of a my friend with CM 12.1 ROM and works correctly. I need use this software to use phone… Thanks for your collaboration.

This release is horroble! RAM usage is really bad. The older releases of cm12.1 are more stable then this latest one. Please check the RAM usage, my phone freeze even when i only use settings and apps page. İ did totaly wipe before installation.

you will lose your apps – you will lose your data and you will lose what is on your phone storage
but it might fix your problem
and depends on what apps you have
and don’t forget it is a miracle to even have kitkat let alone lollipop and maybe marshmallow
Thanks for your advise but it wont be resolved. i wiped cash and data to f2fs there is no matter. But while i install 12.1 it detects f2fs than it wipes to the old file system.

Try install with the apk file, i installed it and it works for me.
By enabling Power saving mode, Battery saver, screen brightness is “increased”. Also there is no regular way to reduce the brightness except disabling Power saving mode again. Is there any easy fix for this?

I use Camu to record my videos, but when I record a video, the app gets laggy, and the video has recorded laggy too.
Use VivaVideo. Is much more Vetter and it doesn’t laggy 😉

OK FYI: Stop asking for Marshmallow. It’s pointless from a developer perspective to work on later editions of Android until they have fixed the major issues with previous ones, such as the recording issue with Lollipop. Otherwise developers end up backlogged and still trying to fix driver issues that weren’t included by the manufacturer in later releases too.

I’m just curious, what’s the best lollipop Nova build you’ve tried so far? I’m using the July 23rd 2015 build, it’s the one I’m most happy with, everything works perfect so far, no problems/bugs whatsoever. I tried a few versions (not all) after that one but in the end reverted back this build. What about you guys?

For everyone who can’t install a choosen app: go to the shell and set the install location with the pm-command to internal(1) then it should work(for me it works verry well)

AudioFX works laggy. When the screen turns off a “scrach” voice appears. Some times when i lock the screen mostly the right headphone or the left one stops working.

When I’m on 2G and I want to switch to 3G mobile data, it stays on 2G and the ‘prefered network’ says 3G (currently: 2G). I can only switch to 3G when Wifi is connected.
Hey guys, I just flashed new release and it’s fine, but when I flashed gapps and try to set up my google account it immediately stops and shows an error message says “google play services has stopped”.
Also, i wiped data and cache and dalvik cache. I try to do a clean install then, but it didn’t worked. Any ideas?

I have an issue that my external sdcard is not recognized. It’s just not mounted. Worked well with stock ROM. Any idea how I could go about debugging this?
Reformatting the sdcard with vfat worked. Strange. But thanks anyways.
