IT’S MILESTONE RELEASE! We recommend to install it!
New release (20140614) of Carbon 4.4.3 for S3 Mini is available!
For flashing KitKat, we recommend you to install our TWRP recovery (available on Download page)!

Do full backup before installation and wipe data/cache (factory reset) after installation (only from stock ROM).
If you’re updating from older CM10.1/10.2/11.0 version or migrating from Oliver’s CM, you don’t have to perform a wipe!

So to install it, we need to wipe all our data and change ex4 into f2fs?
read toturial!
You probably missunderstood me.. I am not too lazy to search for tutorials. Just don’t need this new super format. There ale too many disadvantages to use it. Phone seems to be unstable, there are lots of bug, fcs etc.
So reconsider my quescion. Want to know if I MUST wipe and change data format to use this update (to update my android (carbon sources, bug fixes etc))
I think you dont. You may simply update.
S Advance please!
🙂 , Which one is better , carbon , cm 11 or cm10 , or omni ? what is the difference between all the rom by the way ? you got to be kidding if you say it require testing it one by one .
You kidding that you can’t use Google?
Oliver, to put it simply:
AOSP = Android Open Source
CyanogenMod is based on AOSP.
CM11 is the newest CyanogenMod (KitKat)
All other ROMs are based on CyanogenMod.
They all add their own features.
Carbon and SlimROM both have a very nice feature,
which makes the entire ROM dark/black.
This is very useful and nice with the AMOLED screen of the ‘mini.
I dont care really about other features so Carbon is the best for me.
I fancy the carbon’s slimPIE function which is unique, it’s very useful for quick features and programs access. Carbon’s the best for me too.
How do we know if it succefully changed to f2fs?
Plz help error when install or update from Google play store. ERROR WHEN RECUPERATION FROM SERVER[RPC:S-3]
Tx for all i solved the problem just delete Google account clear cache and all is ok
I formatted /data and /cache to F2FS and installed everything again, but…. I don’t see any difference in performance.
Exactly what should be more than twice as fast? Can someone tell me how to test..? 🙂
I really see no difference, but system is stable. Though more battery use, and I always have “optimizing app 1 of 1” when booting.
Anyone have this too or know why?
Keep getting FC with most od apps.
Cant Save to SD card. Tried 3 different apps.
Ok, f2fs working fine now with this release!
But one question pls:
Now there’s the new icon for enabling hover . how could i clear notification, where the old icon took the same place?
!!!!!!!BTW!!!!!!!
for all you there wondering if f2fs is running and how you can tell if it is:
1. Simpliest way for checking if your phone is actually using f2fs, after it successfully booted into Android again:
Just go to TWRP advanced wipe again, and choose to change filesystem for either cache or data partition, but DON’T wipe again. in the wiping menu you can see the currently used filesystem – should be either old ext4 or new f2fs! now leave the menu without changing filesystem again and reboot system!
2. The effect of f2fs may be subtile. it’s an optimized file system fpr usage with flash memory like SD Cards and built in flah (opposed to hard disks, that’s what’s ext4 originally was menat to be used with!)
So in theory you shoud have a little faster app loading times and – more important .- the flash memory of your device should live longer with f2fs than with ext4!
Whoa! Thanks!!
do you recommend me ART with f2fs?
i got “google services” on top of my battery consumption, anybody have thesame issue?. it seems it doesn’t let my phone to deep sleep or something, is this normal?. on the previous releases i don’t have this.
I now tested the hover feature, it seems completely overrated and worthless to me. In example:
I receiver an SMS, my standard SMS-App (Handcent) gives me a nice popup, where i have all the message and elements i need for answering or dismissign the sms by one touch. I then close the message or answer it, closing the popup in advance. And a few seconds after this I get a hover that want to tell me, that handcent app receiver an sms a few seconds ago – without any valuable content. Seems rather crappy to me.
Put message app in blacklist on hover, but hover for me is brilliant for multi tasking
Yeah thank you.I got it working in between.
How’s the battery life and stability (random reboots)?
6 hours of heavy usage (wifi, BT, music and screen on) down to 52%. No random reboots so far.
Despite that I notice no difference in performance, this release seem to run just fine.
Only thing is that on every boot, the Optimization of 1 App occurs.
Does anyone have this? Or have a solution? Thanks!!
I had my first clock freeze since Feb. I changed system settings and then went to clock app and disabled those settings…went back to system again and set the current time. no clock freezes ever since.
anyone having 1 ghz bug??
all fine for me, just a issue, when i talking and i get other call, first call is muted, i try enable/disable some options, but nothing, some1 have same problem? :/
I report a problem, default application to record the screen (Screen Record) doesn’t work and freezes the phone
